The short version
- The website and the video pages use no cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers. Fonts and images are served from our own domain.
- Recording, camera, microphone and subtitles are processed on your Mac. Nothing leaves it until you press Share.
- A shared video is stored in the European Union and deleted automatically when the link expires, after 3 days, or as soon as you withdraw the link.
- If you join the waitlist we keep your email to send you one message when JustRec is ready. Nothing else.
- We don't sell data and we don't use it for advertising.
Who is responsible
JustRec is made by Nube, Via Vasco de Gama 116/2, 24045 Fara Gera d'Adda (BG), Italy, VAT IT0445540016. Nube is the data controller for the data described on this page.
For any question about your data, or to exercise your rights, write to privacy@justrec.app.
Visiting the website
We don't set cookies, we don't use analytics, and pages load nothing from other companies' servers.
Like any website, our hosting provider receives technical data with each request: IP address, browser type, page requested and time. It is used only to deliver the page and protect the site from abuse, and the request logs are deleted after a few days.
Joining the waitlist
When you join the waitlist we store:
- your email address;
- the language of the page you signed up from, so we write to you in that language;
- the country of your network, as reported by our hosting provider;
- the date of signup;
- a one-way fingerprint of your IP address (a hash: the address itself is not stored), used only to limit signups from the same network and block spam.
We use your email only to tell you when JustRec is available, with the launch offer. No newsletter. The legal basis is your consent (art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): you can withdraw it at any time by writing to us or by replying to our email, and we delete your address.
We keep the waitlist until the launch email has been sent and for no longer than 12 months, then we delete it. Each new signup also sends us a notification email with the address and language.
Using the Mac app
JustRec needs no account. Screen, camera and microphone recordings, the edits you make and the subtitles are created and stored on your Mac. Subtitles are generated on the Mac, without sending audio to anyone.
The first time you share, the app creates a random code that stays in your Mac's Keychain. Our server stores only a hash of it, which lets your Mac manage its own links (withdraw, share again) and lets us apply the storage limit per Mac. To prevent abuse, the server also stores a one-way fingerprint of the network address combined with the day, to limit how many new Macs can register from the same network.
Sharing a video
When you press Share, the app uploads to our server:
- the video file, its subtitles and a thumbnail for link previews;
- the title of the video and the sender name you set in Settings;
- technical details: size, duration, dates, link status.
Files are stored with Cloudflare R2 and the details in a Cloudflare D1 database, both bound to the European Union. The video, subtitles and thumbnail are deleted automatically when the link expires (3 days) or when you withdraw it. The technical details and the title stay in the database so the page can show “link expired” and the app can show the history of its links; you can ask us to delete them at any time.
The legal basis is the performance of the service you asked for (art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). You decide what goes into your videos: if they show other people's personal data, you are responsible for sharing it, and we store it on your behalf only for the life of the link.
Watching a video you received
Whoever opens a JustRec link can watch without an account. The video page sets no cookies, uses no analytics and does not record who watched or how many times. The hosting provider receives the usual technical data of each request, as described for the website.
Who we work with
Website, video pages, storage, database and notification emails run on Cloudflare, Inc., which processes data on our behalf as a processor. Videos and the database are stored in the European Union. Technical request data may pass through Cloudflare's network outside the EU; those transfers are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
We don't share data with anyone else, unless required by law.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Write to privacy@justrec.app: we answer within one month.
If you think we have handled your data incorrectly, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or with the authority of the country where you live.
Changes to this policy
When JustRec gains new features that involve data, such as paid plans or the notification that a client has watched a video, we will update this page before they go live and change the date at the top.
