Client Video Script Templates

Short video script templates for the messages you send clients, grouped by stage of the project. Copy one, fill in the parts in square brackets, and say it in your own words.

Updated 5 November 2026

These video script templates cover the messages agencies and freelancers send clients most often, from the first welcome to the final handover. Each one follows the same shape: one sentence of context, the point, and one clear ask. Fill in the parts in [square brackets], delete what doesn’t apply, and record.

If you’d like to see complete examples first, our article What to Say in a Client Video: 12 Scripts You Can Copy has finished scripts for realistic situations. This page is the quick version.

How these templates work

Every template has three parts, in this order:

Part Length Purpose
Context One sentence Name, topic, why you’re sending this
Point Two to four sentences What you show on screen and what it means
Ask One sentence What you need, and by when

The placeholders are in square brackets. Typical ones: [Client name], [project], [date], [what changed], [your name]. Replace all of them before you record, then read the result once and talk from memory.

How to adapt a template

  • Say it in your words. Read the filled-in template once, write three bullets, and talk. A template read aloud sounds like a template.
  • Keep one topic. If you’re filling in two templates for the same video, send two videos.
  • Cut placeholders you don’t need. A short project may not need a “waiting on” line. Delete it rather than saying “nothing”.
  • Keep the ask. It’s the one line you should never cut. Write it under the link as well.
  • Watch the length. Most of these should end up between one and three minutes once you add what’s on screen. Our guide on how long a client video should be has lengths by type of message.
  • Make your own versions. After a few projects, save the filled-in templates you use most as your studio’s own set.

These templates sit inside a wider habit of sending recorded video instead of booking calls. Our guide to async video for client communication explains where each one fits.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use a video script template?

Copy the template, replace every part in square brackets with your details, then read it once and talk from memory or from three bullets. Don't read it word for word while recording.

How long is a video made from these templates?

Most take 30 to 60 seconds to say. With what you show on screen, the finished video usually runs one to three minutes.

What's the difference between these templates and the full scripts?

These are short skeletons with placeholders, quick to fill in. The 12 full scripts on our blog are complete examples written for realistic situations, useful when you want to see how the finished message sounds.

Can I use these templates for clients who don't speak English?

Yes. The structure works in any language: context, point, ask. Translate the template once into the language you work in and keep your own version.
